The logs are then cut into slabs or lumber and air-dried before kiln-drying and sterilization takes place. Hollow Hickory specializes in both timeless classics and unique slabs with eye-catching grain and color.

Hollow Hickory Hardwoods inventory is supplied by a local tree service company. These slabs that you see listed come from their customers front or back yards, places that grow unique trees, which translates into the unique grains and live edge slabs you see. After a tree is taken down by the tree service company, the trunk is taken to a sawmill where it is cut into slabs, revealing the life story and inner beauty of the tree. The slabs are hauled from the mill to storage where they stacked on pallets and spaced apart with lathe between the layers to allow for air flow, proper and uniform drying. The slabs are left air drying in storage till they dry as they can become, which is around %8-%13 moisture content. All wood is then kiln dried to minimize future movement.
